Bench notes.

We're building Ameka in public. This is where we publish weekly engineering updates, delta against our Phase 1 targets, and the things we've learned at the bench. Subscribe to the bench feed and we'll email you when a new entry goes up.

Issue 0001 · 2026-05-16

Project Ameka begins.

Today is day one. The brand is live. The website you are reading is the first artefact of the company. The first 1,000 reservation slots are open at $100 / $500 / $1,000 refundable deposits and the seed round is open to accredited investors.

Two things will be true of every issue of Bench Notes:

  • Honesty about progress. If a Phase 1 target slips, you'll read about it here first. If a bench experiment fails, we publish the trace.
  • Calendar discipline. One issue every two weeks until first prototype. Nothing skipped.

This week

The work this week is dominated by foundation laying: standing up the founder's workbench (parts ordered from B&H and Lambda Labs), signing the Pasadena workshop lease, opening segregated banking with JPMorgan Chase for reservation funds, and kicking off NDAs with three independent silicon advisors.

On the OS side we are scaffolding the first kernel surface in Rust on a Linux 6.10 host. Frontier reasoning models (Claude Opus, Sonnet, Haiku in tiered roles) read the Plan 9, seL4, Genode, Redox, and Fuchsia literature and draft the first design RFCs for Ameka OS primitives. Every draft is reviewed and either accepted, revised, or rejected by a human reviewer before it lands in the corpus.

What we'll show next

Issue 0002 will be a full unboxing of the founder's workbench and our first end-to-end inference benchmark on the 192 GB GPU pool. We will publish numbers.
